I am thinking about buying this but concerned it might be a reproduction. Please advise.

I do not believe that it is a repo. Most machines like that were not reproduced.

these are the later year Jennings, Pace and mills, called compacts, front mech load, they would take the old mechs and place them inside the steal cases. they were real popular in Reno, Sparks, and small gambling halls throughout NV from the early 60's

This is a real machine, not a fake. It was made by Baldecchi mfg. in Nevada. The machine may have either a Pace or Mills mechanism in it, they used both as the mechanisms were similar and modifications could be made fairly easy. Fitzgeralds casino had a lot of them at one point. Occasionally one from the Fitz will come onto Ebay.

I truly believe some people comment on this board just to see their own post's, with little to no regard about the facts of what they are saying.

While it's true these cases were made by Baldecchi, they did not manufacture machines. In fact, Baldecchi was commissioned By Mr. Fitzgerald (Owner of Fitzgerald's and The Nevada Club) to produce these cases to update the look of the Jennings Standard Chief & Sun Chief models that were all over the Fitzgerald's and The Nevada Club. The Nevada Club bought up All the other Casino's stock of Sun Chief's as those Casino's were changing over to Bally Machines.

The Casting's from many Standard Chief & Sun Chief's were melted down to be used to make the Casting's for these Baldecchi Cases. Old Man Fitz was Very Cheap and wanted to cut costs anywhere he could. The mechanisms from the Chief's were then used to fill these cases. All these cases have Jennings Chief Mech's in them (3 & 4 Reel Mech's). The Front Jackpot was Cut Off so the mech would fit in these cases. These were all manufactured in the early 1960s.

As a side note: Some of the Mech's have been pulled from these Baldecchi Case's to be reinstalled back into Sun Chief Cases. There is a Reproduction adapter available to reattach the Jackpot to the Front of the Mech's.

Has civility completely disappeared from this blog? Why take a personal shot at a contributor who has posted many helpful tips and good info?

I rarely comment on this board for this exact reason. However, since the last two comments are clearly directed at me I feel some sort of obligation to defend my Honor.

I believe Some Civility does still remain here and elsewhere in the world. Although at times you would have to wonder.

This Forum is a great source of information, When it's a Great Source of Information. You see, I believe that Bad Information is Worse than No Information. Too many times people throw out comments on machines that they know nothing about. Unfortunately for the Newbie, and the seasoned collector too, that bad information just confuses the person seeking expert advise. In the end nobody benefits.

I never comment on Watlings, Trade Simulators, etc, because I know very little about them. I would never want to provide bad info. My interest and area of Expertise are Polk Figures & Jennings Chief Machines. I have owned many of them and seen many more. At my peek of collecting I think I had 175+ machines, with 25 of those being Polk Figures. So when it comes to those examples I truly know what I am talking about.

The machine that started this post is a Derivative of a Jennings, Not a Mills and Not a Pace. That is a Fact.

As far as being Jealous, I can't even begin to understand that comment. I have No Jealously whatsoever regarding anyone's collections or knowledge. I have put myself in a position to have owned many Great Slot Machines. I have also been fortunate enough to see Many Many Great Slot Machines. There are some Wonderful Collections in Southern California and the people that have those collections are some of the BEST in the hobby. I am proud to call several of them my friends.

However, just because I've seen a lot of machines I certainly don't consider myself an expert on them. Conversely, I have done extensive research on the machines that I collect and the ones that interest me.

I think the information I provided regarding the Machine in this post is accurate and thorough. I don't take it lightly when I provide an Expert analyst regarding a machine. I certainly Don't make post that have no validity just to exaggerate my own ego.
