My latest find from the woodwork

Postby Dave » Sun Jun 30, 2013 10:15 am

OK, time for another contest. Christmas in June continues and my latest basement find was just delivered. Details of the find will be revealed after the machine has been revealed.

Here is the clue.

1. If Hooters existed back in the day there is no doubt they would have had one of these in every bar.

That's what I'd guess, too-- a Mills Owl upright.

I agree; the Mills Owl Junior counter machine;
it has a great pair of hooters on it, but they're kinda small.

All of you are close but still not 100% correct. One piece of the puzzle has been solved.

Oh WOW;
you may have got a Mills Silver Cup Counter Dual Wheel;
that would really be a fantastic find!

Yeah, I agree that would be a fantastic find. Unfortunately, that is not what I have.

You were on the right track with Owl, just the wrong manufacturer.

The machine is a Watling Owl.

Take a close look at the cabinet and the columns.

Here are some photos. The finish is all original.

The guy I bought it from sent me a detailed history of the machine and how it survived all these years.
