Mills Cross Diamond Free Play

Postby thepennyarcade » Thu Nov 14, 2013 2:56 pm

Hi Guys
Well, 2 weeks ago I found a Mills Cross Diamond Free Play and the price was very reasonable.
Of course it was locked up tight and I had to drill the locks
The Mechanism is interesting, no slides or coin tube but alot of contact switches
The shock was the mechanism in the base stand
Wow that is alot of stuff
I hope someone has a manual or has a machine to help me with the restoration
Cheers
John

Well I got the Mills Cross Diamond (Free Play) to payout

I installed a 3/5 payout slide set (I had to narrow them a bit so they would slide between the existing posts)
Collected various parts from my parts drawer, from my friend Neil's parts drawer and a few from ebay

I decided to use the vertical finger's contact switches and came up with a system to show the player how many coins they won
Like you couldn't look at the award card, but hey this is the fun of the hobby

The system is only 6 volt now so I can't electrocute any of my friends or my wife's relatives
Have a look at the power transformer from the original machine, as Tool Time Tim would say," That's Power."

Most of the payouts were straight forward but a few I had to combine lights

Can anyone guess the payout only looking at the lights?

Cheers

John
PS Should I paint it like a Mills Cross Diamond with a Jackpot machine or leave in this original color?

If you add up the lit lights you get 18 so the combination would be bell bell bell/bar

That is a pretty interesting machine.
