Newbie and new find

Postby Jwest » Fri Mar 14, 2014 9:46 pm

Found this at a little auction tonight.

It's a Jubilee and it takes half dollars bit says "penny" and "1D" (which we assumed to be 1 $) on various places on the machine.

Anyways, I paid 500. It works and we have keys. Oped it up and looks good.

Found a bag of half dollars and played it until it paid out.

Did I do ok or lost my truck note?

Likely an English penny machine but you got a good price. If the coin tube is filled with American halves (same size as English penny but thicker) are your higher payouts a coin or two short? Still a good buy and a fun machine.

Check your halves ... if any are 1964 or before they are silver and worth $$ Dont let them go until you check them out and their dates.

Don't forget about the ones that are 1965-1970, they are still 40% silver and still worth over $3 each.

Believe that Jwest meant that he found a bag of halves around the house to play the machine. Don't think there was a bag of silver halves in the machine. This is an English penny machine.

in the spring of 1980, when silver was ridiculously high, I bought a 10 cent golden falls. it had not been played in years.it had $80. worth of silver dimes in it.
I don't remember what it worked out to silver value wise, but as I recall, it more than paid for the machine and then some.
