Jennings $1 Standard Chief

Postby Dave » Fri Jun 29, 2018 4:57 pm

Just picked this up in my area. Very nice original machine with original sticker on the inside.

It will really be nice once I get those stupid red stickers off the machine. I will probably pull the top casting off and soak them in warm soapy water so I don't risk damaging the chrome.

A hair dryer might loosen/soften the adhesive to remove the stickers.

What does a machine like that go for?

Use Bestene to remove the gum glue after you pull them off with a hair dryer. No damage to the chrome.

Hello Dave!
Been a while since we spoke, hope all is well with you!
Unfortunately from my experience with DYNO Label maker tapes like that as many of the old casino used slot machines, the open fronts, Etc. had slot number designations of that type for recording the slot number on a ticket during "The Drop" when the buckets were pulled from under the slots in the cabinet, they always seem to leave a little trace of their existence after removal which can be seen by the trained eye!
Some were even the wider DYNO tape, 3/4", if I am not mistaken!
The tape sitting on the chrome for a long period of time seems to have an effect on the surface!
Let me know how that works out for you!
Bona Fortuna!

Finally got around to cleaning up the machine. I think it looks really nice.

I used WD-40 to get the stickers off. Then brake cleaner to get the glue off, then Never Dull to get rid of any sticker residue. I see not evidence at all of the stickers.

Terrific looking machine - the real silver dollars in the jackpot finish it off. Just bought a quarter Dewey JP and I used silver barbers and standing liberty quarters to fill the jackpot. Flip.
