I am looking for the brass finger that is used for the master slide on a 1948 Mills High Top. It appears the one I have is worn and is causing the master slide not to sit flush. If anyone has one that is available I would be interested. It looks similar the picture.

Before buying another finger, check to see if the safety slide lock isn't worn. If the lock is worn the safety slide will be offset to the back. The safety slide should be exactly centered below the master slide. Usually the finger on the safety lock gets worn and / or bent causing misalignment.

Hi Mechanic - thanks for the thoughts. When you say safety slide lock are you referring to safety slide lever? Sorry for any ignorance as I am just starting to learn same of the names of some of the parts. Thanks...Nick

The safety slide lock lever is the part that looks like a triangle shape when you turn over the mech. That part has a little finger that comes off the inside end allowing the safety slide to rest on it. That little finger gets worn or bent over years of use, causing the safety slide to move back and putting out of center to the master slide. It should look just like a bullseye if the two slides are centered properly at the bottom of the mech where the coins drop through.

Hi mechanic - So I did check the safety lock lever and it appears to be fine. I think my issue is the master slide finger is shorter than the others (see pictures). I am not sure if it is because it is wore (but it does not look like it) or just the wrong finger and maybe shorter by design? Any other thoughts on this would be appreciated as I am new to this and could be missing something.

After looking at a couple high tops that I have it appears that those fingers are correct for a high top machine.
