It is worth no where's near of what you are asking. And the history adds no value to it what so ever except maybe a nice story. I would not say you were lucky to get it at all. My opinion your one of many that get taken by another fake or reproduced machine

This is not being mean just honest.

I seem to recall repro machines going for $500-700 brand new sold as repro. Don't feel too bad
Many big auction houses sell machines like this calling them vintage or original but not ANTIQUE.
I still see them advertised this way and almost got stung by one myself and I have a bunch of
Reel (pun intended) antiques. It's the same in any hobby I also collect vintage 1911 pistols and
those are faked or reworked all the time all day long. Buyer beware. Knowledge is power.
Looking for survivor machines especially vendor fronts or original side vendors with or without
a machine. 1920's-30's goosenecks, round escalators. I enjoy hand painting the castings.

In this forum, it has zero value....

Try Craigslist, may be able to get $1k-$1.5k

(For reference I have a buddy that got $600 on CL for the exact same repro machine)

thank you all for your comments, and expert opinions, i will take them to heart,
unfortunately i only have this one slot machine and feel that, although it may be a replica
it is still a very well maintained and beautiful piece of art. I am a little hurt by the
this new knowledge, but thank you for sharing.

have a wonderful day!

Why would you regret a posting to find out the truth about what you bought, you say the Manager and staff of the casino bought everything else, that may tell you something, your machine is not worth very much to a true collector of slot machines, perhaps it is worth more to someone who is a casino buff, who likes the story attached to the machine, you say the machine stood outside the casino, that tells you what it is worth, it was purely a cheap decoration, You must also remember that Mills made several versions of the Blue Front, what you have is non of those versions, you have a machine that looks nice to a non collector of slot machines, but if you just want a talking point for your house, what you have is fine.

You seem offended on the honest comments of the various slot machine collectors, and are only looking to get your machine valued, to me it is worth zero, to a non collector who just wants a slot machine you may get between $400-$700 on a good day, sorry to burst your bubble, perhaps if you did not like what you have heard you should get the opinion of say a car mechanic, not a slot machine specialist, on this site we try to help new and honest slot machine collectors.

I am sure we will not be hearing from you again as a slot machine collector.

sabrock;

You can see that a true antique slot collector would consider this machine to be junk that should be destroyed or used for parts to restore an otherwise complete original machine.

But don't feel bad;
that is not to say it is without value;
if you can find the non=collector who just wants a cool looking retro machine for his game room, this would be a good match.
However, that guy can easily fill his need for $1000- $1200 or less.
Your best bet, assuming you can document the ship related history, may be the guys who collect old cruise ship memorabilia;
they might pay a premium for the provenance.

In either case, I'm confident that you will disclose that it is a reproduction and not represent it as a vintage 1930s Mills machine.
That would be dishonest.

What this all boils down to, 'Plain & Simple', is this Reproduction Mills "Castle Front" was purchased sometime in the
late 1970's to early 1980's, by the SS Norway Casino, to put on display for extra 'crowd-draw'. A tactic that all Casinos
have used since the beginning.
One of the biggest crowd-draws in history, began when the new electro-mechanicals with the best pay percentage, were
placed just inside the open doorways, with the bells constantly ringing, to pull as many patrons in as possible. The dollar
machines attracted the most attention, from the heavy coins dropping into a very loud tin payout tray.
The reason your machine is so new looking, both outside and in, is because it was for 'display only', and patrons were not
allowed to play it. Hopefully you got it at a fair price at auction, but the price you are asking is way-out-of-line. A fair
price for one of these Repro's, is generally in the $800 to $1,200 range, and that is when advertising it as a Reproduction.
Welcome to our Forum, and Good Luck.

In no way have the members here tried to hurt you or your feelings in any way. This is a wonderful place to get info, preferably before a purchase is made. You wouldnt have bought the machine if you didnt like it. So my suggestion is that you just keep it and enjoy what you have. I see you're not a collector of this type of machine, so it really is ok for you. Keep it and enjoy it for what you wanted, a machine to look at and play a little.
