First, Hello to all !
2nd , took me 4 banks to get my 50 coins. was told "they been picked through already" = ????. they ment... old folks turned them in , in rolls ,others already took them pulled all the silver ones out & returned the rest. I hate Scrappers !!!"
Dollar coins are harder to find.
3rd , On higher denomination coins by Mills ; in their "operators' manuals" ,with all the parts listed with the prices, early 1930s they do mention 50 cent related parts. in the 1940s very little if any mention , And in the 1950s NO mention what so ever. And never any mention of a DOLLAR coin anything ....at any time. One would assume that all of this would be the other way around.
How many people were walking around in the 1930s with 50 cent coins in their pockets to waist in a slot machine ????
my "1931" Roman Head, the base plate is MLB coded & stamped 50 cent. As Freddy stated, these were bought up big time by the British to convert. as mine was. even with the mills 50 cent parts, many parts still need to be modified a little for their coins. British "operators bought the mills 50 cent & mills dime machines for these conversions.
4th , I doubt the dollar version (on google images) was made by mills.
A vast majority of the Nevada casinos had "work shops" ,usually in the basement or in the back, to fix any issue, to convert machines (brand new) before hitting the floor. fill in winning holes...., add additional holes for "mystery" payouts..., change the reel strips to match, ect.
Now, on the machine that started this all; I see nothing wrong with it, Would love to own it. but the casting for the coin entry is not "U.S. mills", was used in England & converted to take U.s. coins.... which decreases it's overall Value.
now, someone might pony up the money for it today.
