I have seen one or two of the Fey machines, (like pictured above), with the Fey name partially ground off,
but that would not have been done by Exhibit, although Dick makes it sound that way. I have never seen
one of these Fey models, with any indication of Exhibit decals, or any other markings. The Exhibit models
are an entirely different casting design. What was stolen from Fey, was the layout and design of the game
itself. This type of thievery went on for years, with a multitude of mfrs. You will see names poorly ground
off many machines, and not always names. Sometimes just casting artwork has met with a grinder.
This could open up a whole new subject of 'pattern design thievery', by many mfrs. I have seen several of
these slight casting changes done by Pace, Pierce, Daval, Buckley, and Field. One of the most notable of all
the 'Copy-Cat' machines, is with the "Puritan Baby Vendor", and "Puritan Baby Bell" models. There are many
found, with different Mfrs. names, in the circle on the top casting. Only a couple have a casting change
elsewhere on the case. The ones with no name in the top circle, are usually Midwest, but that is not carved
in stone either, as it was only evidenced by an early advertisement.
Sometime, I would like to start taking more detail photos, of all the casting changes, that were performed
by all the mfrs., and start a new thread subject. Just from what I have seen, has been very interesting, and
fits in with all my historical research. But that's just me. Most other Trade Stimulator collectors could probably
care less about such small details. They just like the machine for what it is.
Then, there are the Slot Machines, which is a whole different ball-of-wax!
