QT metal stand lock

Postby damikeguy » Fri May 08, 2015 5:02 pm

I have a metal stand for a QT that fortunately was unlocked but with no key. I would like to remove the lock and have it rekeyed if possible. I was thinking of milling out all of the spot welds and removing the back plate. Bad Idea? The other thing I was thinking of doing was to cut a window open in the back plate to access the lock then welding it back on. Has any one tried this before or is there a better way? Should I just be happy it was unlocked and just leave it alone?
