Rol-a-Top missing key

Postby newbie07 » Fri Aug 07, 2015 11:30 am

I just picked up a coin front Rol-a-Top with an original back and lock that is missing the key. Is it possible for a locksmith to re-key the lock or should I drill it and replace it?

Never drill-out an original lock, if you can help it. Most reputable locksmiths can pick these locks, and re-key them.
Is there a number on the face of the lock? Some locks have them, and would help to find an original key. If you do
take the machine to a locksmith, by all means, DO NOT leave the machine, and stay in eyesight of it. No telling
what treasures could be inside. I have heard some real horror-stories over the years. If they do get it open, and the
re-keying will take awhile, just leave the door, or the lock itself. Good luck.
