I think I know the answer, but I'm going to ask anyway.
I've started working on a Mills DIAL.
It's in need of a total restoration.
The mechanism is filthy and has light surface rust of just about everything.
I'm also finding a lot of parts are frozen but come loose with a bit of cleaning.
It looks to me that the entire mech needs to be taken apart and every part cleaned.
I just bought a copy of OWNER'S COMPLETE GUIDE TO THE MILLS Q.T. SLOT MACHINE.
Excellent book, but it doesn't have any information concerning the DIAL, as to parts or function.
Does anyone have or know of a supplement to the prior mentioned book that would cover the DIAL.
I'm assuming the basic mech is the same as a QT but without the coin payout parts and the added DIAL parts.
Looking closely at the book, I'm slowly identifying the DIAL parts.
Since the mech was so gummed up, it wouldn't work, so I'm having to guess function as I go.
If anyone knows anything about the DIAL, I would love to have someone to occasionally ask questions or maybe supply a detailed photo or two.
I do know another collector that is working on his DIAL, and I think he's in the same boat as me.
Once I get this thing all cleaned up and working properly, I wouldn't mind writing a supplement for later collectors if there isn't anything out there.
I have completed the cabinet.
Here's a picture of it.
