slot machine stand lock bar guts

I just couldn't stand having a lock bar with lock on my QT stand and no key. I am sure there are some old timers that have seen the inside of one of these, Not me. No big deal. Just use a 3/16 end mill and plunge cut out the 27 spot welds from the back thru the one detail. Now I can just re-key the lock, weld and paint. ( It looks to me like someone drilled thru the sliding bar that covers the access hole when the bar was in the lock position. I think I will weld that small hole up also.)

The unlocked position with a hole drilled thru in what would be the locked position.

Interesting design...must have had a lot of confidence that lock would never fail to seal it up like that lol!
Nice to know there are others like me that OCD about stuff like this.
Looking for survivor machines especially vendor fronts or original side vendors with or without
a machine. 1920's-30's goosenecks, round escalators. I enjoy hand painting the castings.
