My new Little Duke came where does this go?

Postby Richard13 » Wed Jul 20, 2016 7:40 am

My Little Duke with vendor came last week and I finally got it un-boxed and in the house and opened up. There were wheat pennies all over the place inside jammed in places I can't I anime how they got there but fed ex can do miracles when shipping a machine lol.

Anyway it seems to play and pay but I do not know where the other end of this spring goes I'm pointing to with screwdriver, any ideas guys?

Also how in the world do I fill the top of three reserve jackpot? I filled bottom two with wheat pennies already. As always thanks for the expert advice!

Never mind on the reserve jackpot I figured it out need to get more wheaties to finish topping it off.

Whoo hoo thanks for the photo! It was perfect I just hooked it up to the pin soldered to the back of the coin chute and it works. Well at least the lever it is connected too snaps back now. Again great reference site for newbies like me and some more seasoned guys that forgot more than I'll ever know.

Funny you mention this. One of my collector friends, is always saying to me, that "he wished that he could remember what I forgot".
The reality of that comment, is getting worse by the day, as I have forgotten more than I care to admit. Ha! :(

I have a Little Duke, and it didn't have the gumball vender, but appeared to have had it at one point of its life. It did not have the necessary linkage to trip the vender.
A few years ago, I found the vender assembly, minus the linkage, at the Chicago show and wanted to install it on the Duke to make it complete. Since the vender linkage parts were impossible to find, I ended up fabricating a series of small parts to make the vender function. Here is the result. This might be helpful for someone else doing the same:

Wow someone really has some skills and rip ably a mill/lathe at home or work!! I had the same problem with a mills Side vendor and found the inside lever last week. I am going to make a few extras just in case. They are more simple that what you made thank goodness.

Now since you are a Jennings man maybe you can help with photos or sample of what I need for a 1933 ish Jennings Century
Front vendor. I bought the machine cheap and there was a roll of mints jammed up in the roller. So inassumed it worked dammit! I did not check to see if the linkage was there and alas it is not!! Anyone can roll the knob and empty the vendor.
I'm ok for now but it would be great to eventually correct this situation.
THANKS!

Well, I don't know too much about the Jennings, but I have two gooseneck front vender machines that I have gone thru and learned an awful lot about. I'm now playing with two Mills escalator machines, trying to get them freed up and working, and they're pretty similar to the Jennings. Once you get one stripped down, fixed, and running, you'll pick up a whole lot of skills in the process.

After you start to understand what the original engineers concocted, it all seems to start to make sense. And, you can remove many anti-cheat parts for home use, and lessen the potential jams in the process. Even the slug rejection mechanisms and the token sensing stuff won't be needed.

The big question is, will removing the casino-driven add-ons make the machine less valuable? I'm kind of torn with that. In the case of your vender jamming, it may have something to do with anti-cheat parts getting in the way and jamming the mechanism.
