Denny!
If shoulder screw is present on side of jackpot housing as shown in the picture below then more than likely the part, lever
"A" has been removed and I would replace it if dumping of the jackpot on mech removal is a problem which in a home setting is not that big of an issue as long as all jackpot trip and reset levers both on jackpot housing and payout slide assembly are set correctly as described for reference in the other two pictures below!
As when sliding the mech in the jackpot should not dump if the mech is slid in smoothly and firmly with no hesitation or reverse movement as that may cause the tripping of the
MAIN JACKPOT TRIP lever! Also, your name is familiar and as I am in Northern California have you ever called me off of one of my internet listings, just curious!

I have seen many variations of the front jackpots for the hightop and halftop with slight variations in levers and style thereof but, and I may be wrong, I believe the jackpots are not designated by hightop and halftop, other than possibly casino style front fill to maintain the amount of coins dumped to keep the Gaming Commission happy in Nevada or the self fill working off of the mech, possibly Dave, mrslot1, may have input on whether there was a designated jackpot for either one!
