Anybody know how this pump is suppose to be? Seems to be missing something as when you play the machine the whole thing extends like you see in the picture. This is for a pace bantam

Looks like it may have been assembled wrong if I can see correctly on my phone the leather is on the outside and should be on the inside of the brass cylinder.
Looking for survivor machines especially vendor fronts or original side vendors with or without
a machine. 1920's-30's goosenecks, round escalators. I enjoy hand painting the castings.

The leather (or whatever it is) is sandwiched between two types of clips . Im not sure how its suppose to work. How much fluid should be in the pump...maybe the resistance is from the fluid and as the piston pulls out the fluid is squeezed to the bottom through the holes at the bottom of the piston and vice versa when it returns??

I don't believe there is any fluid in the pump. Works on air pressure. But I maybe wrong. Maybe it works on hydraulics.

There is some sort of fluid in there now...not a lot but some. On what I am calling the piston it seems brass but there is no o ring around it and there are holes in it . At least my caille pump seemed straightforward...unlike this one. It will probably end up being something super simple but it controls the escaltor and when the escaltor spins super hard it hits the coin chute hard.

Most pump (every company ) you just add a little grease to the inside , No fluid! previous person must have added oil to it. as stated already ,these just work off of air being released, via , a small hole.
and the "O" ring should go inside.

Heres a picture of the inside of the pump. No idea how the o ring would go on the inside of the pump. No idea how to get this apart any further.

Did you try and turn the rod where that small washer o ring is. That rod maybe threaded and screwed together there.

Tried turning the rod and its all one piece witg everything appearing to be assembled then the bottom of the rod knurled or peened so it does not come apart. I said what the hell and put some trans fluid in the cyclinder and it runs smooth know and the escalator works great. Guess this pump is similar to a caille pump where it does need fluid. Doesnt leak at all.

Well , if at first you don't succeed..... work with it. it seems to be doing what it's suppose to, so maybe "we" don't have a clue. in the end it's working for you , all that matters.
