Reel/machine timing

Postby jmisatu » Sat Mar 24, 2018 12:12 pm

I recently purchased a $.25 Mills Golden Falls probably from 1946 which shows wear and use but is in excellent condition internally except for one curious situation I have observed. I have the machine clock timed for approximately a six second cycle and sometimes at no set frequency the fourth click seems to crowd the third and other times it is spaced perfectly evenly among all five clicks. The only info I have found refers to bending the connecting arm from the clock to the timing rod/arm. Anything else I should know about or is this fairly common? Thanks for any help and I thoroughly enjoy the comments and info found on this group of forums.

Does anyone have any suggestions for this condition? Thanks.
