Payout fingers won’t go all the way

Postby Jaysrestoration » Thu Aug 23, 2018 7:31 pm

Having problems with payout fingers not wanting to go forward on winning combinations they go though the first hole ok and even the second but don’t want to go on the third winner unless I force them forward and then they go though and pay. Question are they getting jammed and where I have cleaned from the ground up or is this an adjustment thing I don’t know. ?

Try new springs or shorten the ones you have. Make sure the payout slides have reset and not putting pressure on the horizontal fingers.

Is there proper time between the 4th and 5th click?

Your 5th click which is behind the master slide is not engaging. The 5th click needs to go behind the master slide to keep the slides from pulling back. When the 5th click does not set behind the master then the master along with all the other slide moves back just enough to bind up the horizontal pay levers and if the horizontal pay levers do not move out of the way then the vertical pay levers do not go through the three payout plates on the reel bundle. If you put pressure on the vertical pay out finger it pushes the horizontal out of the way and then gives you the winner. So you need to cycle the mech outside of the cabinet and watch to see if the 5th click engages when the mech is operating.

Hey yes the slides etc are all doing what they should the problem is the fingers just don’t want to go though more than two holes the holes are lined up and the fingers just seem to sit there at the second hole which is preventing payout.

Your first post-- where you indicate that you can manually force the vertical fingers into the third hole and get a payout-- strongly implies that the coin slides are not being reset all the way when you pull the handle, and remain jammed-up against the horizontal fingers throughout the cycle right to the end. That would further suggest that you aren't actually getting a fifth click to complete the cycle... or are you--? Please count them: 1-2-3 (first, second, third reel stops); 4 (release of vertical fingers); 5 (release of coin slides and concomitant payout). I don't believe that that 5th click at the end of the cycle is really happening, but that's the result of something not happening at the start of the cycle: the slides are not being pushed all the way forward by the rod-thingy attached to the big, main drive-bar in the back (look for it) which resets the slides. That rod is usually a spring-loaded device which can lose the fight if it's not adequately tensioned; you might try giving it a manual assist at the start of the cycle as an experiment to ascertain that that is your problem. It's worked for me several times when trouble-shooting missed payouts.

I know the 5th click and it’s happening as I said the arm just doesn’t have any will to go forward, I’ve taken the slides out again they have already been cleaned but there is a 3/8 gap as required between the slide fingers and slides . But thanks

OK, Sorry! But-- returning once more to your first posting in which you indicate that you can force the vertical finger through the third hole-- a vertical finger should never lose a fight with a horizontal finger, and require such assistance. So, you must either have vertical finger springs that are way too weak, or horizontal fingers that are way too strong, or something else is hindering the travel of your vertical fingers, such as bent metal or scraping burrs, very thick gunk, a dropped rubber band...

Several people have tried to answer your question about what is holding back your vertical fingers. Maybe we should be asking you that question--? #-o
