Has any one ever heard of a Roto-Slot Machine? Mills or Rowe

Postby Nextelcherp1 » Sat Oct 22, 2016 7:24 pm

Hi I bought three slot machines today and one is a strange machine that I have never seen. I also can't find anything on it. The older gentleman that just got done servicing them said he had heard of them but had never seen one. The machine looks like a mills but has a Rowe sticker on the coin chute. It's round with a wooden table. You pull the knob and it will rotate the machine and the pay out to 6 different slots down below. It had a little light mounted inside and it also has the word "ROTO-SLOT" engraved into the machine. It's heavy and professionally made. If anyone has any info onit please let me know. I would like to restore it but have no clue on how it looked.

I'll just bet that Freddy knows all about this home-made looking machine, as there are other machines
that have the Roto name. Although I have never seen one in a case style such as this. It is rather interesting,
and would like to know what it is as well. OK Freddy, the balls in your court! #-o

First Slot Machine in a tabletop 1954 001.jpg
Hi Guy's,
I think the one that is shown was home made, but the game itself is an original one made in Reno in 1954, I do not know the manufacturer, but it was originally built into a round table and placed in the lounges of the early casino's, see picture of the game. it was probably built with a Mills Mech, Rowe never made a slot machine, they built cigarettes and Soda Machines and went on to jukeboxes.

Great response Freddy!
You came thru once again!
I am surprised I have never seen one of those being in the Northern Nevada area and working in the casinos in the 60's/70's!
It would be great to build that back into a lounge table in its original format!
If you ever pull that puppy apart could you place some pictures here so we could see what the mech looks like as I am sure some of us have gotten our curiosity up after seeing this!

Sorry for the delay. It's been a while since I have posted to this site and was waiting for a email saying someone responded. Now that I remembered this does not happen I appoligise for not responding with a Thank You. I also don't think this is home made. Tge only Rowe parts is the coin chute. Other the. That it all seems to be Mills. I found another one that ran threw VCA and it was identical. The inside has "Roto-Slot stampeded into the metal. I will post photos once I start taking it apart. There is a photo of the one that sold at VCA like 10years ago
