Jennings Torchfront

Hello to all! I am a REAL newbie, and the purchase at Morphy's was my first machine, and I am hoping to help preserve a piece for Coin op history. Thank you to all of you doing your part to help keep this truly great piece of history alive, and well.

The Machine:

It plays well, and resolves winning combinations, but the payout is off at times, and pay at times when it shouldn't. After removing the mechanism, I ca see that it needs a REAL good cleaning as there is lint, dust, grease, and grime EVERYWHERE. The pay out slides seem to move but need cleaning as well, thus hopefully solving the payout issue. The reels seemed to move a varying speeds, so I adjusted the tensions a little on the "Brakes", and now they seem to spin, and stop a lot better. The jackpot mechanism is intact, but seems to be missing something to trigger it when the jackpot is hit. I will follow up with pictures as soon a I can. I was just hoping to find out a bit more information, and maybe a good schematic of what the mechanism should be for this machine. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Welcome to the Forum !!!
spent some real money on your first slot. remember these are addictive, I see your home full of these in the future.
photos of the J.P. , ect. will help. paying out correctly can be many things ,including being dirty , worn springs, bent pay out arms, ect. But, usually not a big deal to correct.
looks like you have a very nice machine to start off your collection.

Regarding the Jennings "Torch Front" Revamp shown above, I have not yet been able to pinpoint it's correct origin as yet.
What is strange about it, is that it is fitted with a Caille "Superior" designed jackpot, and to my knowledge, Caille never
had anything to do with revamping other mfrs. machines. This has to be a 'Rob-Job' from another revamper. The other
design difference, is that this Jennings model has 3 small diamonds above the jackpot, and 4 at the bottom. The same
Mills "Torch Front" revamp, using the same style Caille Jackpot, has 4 triangles above and 5 below.

Thank you for the help, and information. I have tracked down a couple other photos of a similar casting, but didn't get any info as it was just hits from a "Google images" search. Looks like the next step is cleaning and posting pics of the mechanism. Thank you again for all the help.

Here is the Mills "Torch Front" equivalent, with the Caille style jackpot revamp. Note the triangles, rather than the diamond pattern.

Leaves me scratching my head, as to the mystery. Lol

Part of the fun is the chase, I guess. The reward at the end is just that much better. I have a chane to pick up a Century vender this weekend a 5cent machine. From what I've seen, it's complete. Not a bad price. Are these easy to find?

Thank you

Will be looking at tomorrow. From what I've seen so far, and been told it appears to be all original. Been with the gentleman for 30 to 35 yrs. If reasonable and I get it, I'll be sure to post pics

As promised here is what I went to find. Ended up being a package deal for all 3, plus a National Cash Register, and 2 small coin op vending machines. I realize the "GN" is a repro, but it had an interesting interior. lol

They all need a good cleaning as the previous owner thought that "White Grease" was the answer to everything. Will post in Main Index, so as to not clutter this thread on "TorchFront"
