I'm looking for opinions of those in the know on Cailles.
There dosent seem to be anything on Youtube or a Mead Pictorial workshop manual??

Many Thanks to anyone whom is able to help, however little it may be, still very much appreciated.

can anyone advice on the coin head, it only holds one nickel and not high enough to engage with the coin sensor. Are there pieces missing??

Funky reel Strips, love the Deco cabinet and the Quirky reel symbols. Anyone know why they did the frames around the fruits? Did they have Aliens working on these strips whom can understand the meaning lol!!

This is what the side vender would have looked like. Anyone know if they repro side venders for a Caille? Would a repro from Mills or Jennings fit this machine??

I have a Dictator (pictured) and I'll answer your specific questions as best I can later today, when I have more time. For now, you might enjoy this clip from a Canadian antique dealer... it's an entertaining look at the machine, though the Dictator is a 1934 model (not 1932), and I seriously doubt that any Caille machines had much to do with the history of gambling in Nevada, and the "whale oil" story is pure moonshine:

Is your Dictator operational or not? (One of your picture captions strongly implies that your coin entry/coin detector is malfunctioning.)

Hi marsonion
wow, your dime Dictator looks great, thanks for the picture.
The Canadian antique store one is now standing in front of me, lol.
The whale oil statement did make me laugh as did the vegas references
I would really appreciate if you could take some pics around your coin head when you get 5 mins.
something is amiss on mine??

A couple of things I see right away-- 1) Please pull the cotter pin and re-mount the check detector so it goes under (rather than over) the peg; 2) I can't tell due to the way your picture is cropped, but wonder if the spring is missing on the part that retains the coin at the bottom of the gooseneck? It's supposed to pinch the coin and hold it temporarily as the coin detector comes down and shoves it into the escalator, but it looks almost as though the coin is pushing it aside instead!

Congratulations on getting this Dictator! I thought it was pretty tempting from the first time I saw it. BTW I called and had a very friendly chat with Alex, during which I gently corrected him on a few items from his narration... he offered to take his video down. I said, "No no no-- PLEASE don't take it away!"

thanks for that marsonion, you are a true gentleman.
The coin head came loose during shipping and the coin sensor now holds the coin till the end of cycle and drops it into the escalator after re attaching it so it goes UNDER the peg.
The pinch pawl on the right does have its spring but the other pinch point on the left is a screw that just needed to be turned out a fraction.
A small adjustment, made all the difference.
it wasn't paying out either but turned out Alex shipped it full of canadian Nickels and one got lodged in the Pay slides.
Isn't this forum great. Well done Dave !!
