Thought I'd post this for Laff's & Giggles as this was in a large quantity purchase of a slot collection last year and I had not seen one like this before and was curious if anyone out there had or had any information on it!
I believe it is a route operators "Modification", probably done in the 60's and probably out of the Reno/Sparks area but I don't know for sure!
I knew a lot of route operators in that time period but unfortunately most have gone to that Great Casino in the Sky and are not available to ask about this puppy!
It may not be that unique, I never use the word "RARE" as it is overused, but it may not be that unique but after 35 years plus in this hobby/business I would think I would have seen one before or be familiar with it but I ain't so I figured I'd post it here for Laff's & Giggles!
Any wild thoughts?

Interesting machine for sure ! How does the escalator function ?
That upper front casting that accepts the coins ,would a route operator go so far as to make that ?
I’d think that may be a Mills product but I know not !

Hard to describe the escalator operation in words but when I have Spare Time???? I will take pictures of it, as it is interesting to say the least!
As for the front casting modification, Mill's for a period had a facility in Reno/Sparks, Mill's Bell-O-Matic I believe it was called and from what I had heard also had casting molds on hand there so anything is possible but I have never heard that Mill's did the actual modification but again who knows, that is kind of the reason for posting this to see if anyone has any information on this particular two coin play slot machine!
I know that Lou Bennetti of Nevada Novelty in Sparks did some modification work as did Ace Gaming Devices owner Phil Anderson and to the latter when we bought his warehouse items last year 8 years after his death you wouldn't believe some of the things we found!
I also believe Lane Fleischer is still around but I do not have a phone number or contact info for him but he also did some modification work so again who knows on this two coin High Top!

The more I look at this puppy I am starting to believe this was a prototype and not well received as with consistent double coin play and possible repeated three orange, Etc. payouts being doubled I believe the coin tube would either run dry or cause short pays and would be a nightmare for servicing due to tube fills required!
Anyway, here are some more pictures!
Has anyone ever seen one of these?
Can anyone confirm that this was a prototype or was it in limited usage in casinos?

I have been following this post for a few days. Everybody is guessing but no one has sent any solid proof about this machine. It's time to put this to bed.
I have attached two pictures of double nickel machines on the floor in the Nevada Club. I even put in red arrows so you can't fail to find them. They weren't prototypes made by some operator. I believe they were modified by a small manufacture someone like Allstate. This was no small feat and required some ingenuity. Splitting the escalator, adding the micro switches and that big ass solenoid to reset the slides. Really rare casino collectable.
Over the years I have found two. Both are in my possession. The one pictured is similar to my two except for the top marque sign. I believe that one may be a replacement for the original.
Also attached a picture of my double nickel machine. I also have a quarter machine. Both machines are original and not put together from parts. I repainted the castings, completely disassembled and rebuilt the mech. The top marque sign is original to the machine and not touched up.

Do you possibly agree that the downfall of these was the issue of keeping the coin tube full in the casino due to possible larger payouts in the two coin pay mode causing the coin tube to run dry or short?
Anyway, we will communicate further as you are rather close to me and possibly have the same casino background that I do from the 60's and 70's!
