Inherited a couple of Mills slots. Could use info / advice.

Postby RollinD » Sat Sep 01, 2018 11:39 am

Hi everyone,

My family inherited a couple of Mills antique slot machines from my grandmother. Link to photos below. I know she purchased both of them in 1987 in Houston, TX as we have found the receipts. The 5 cent Blue Bell was bought from Slot Machines of Texas, and the 25 cent Diamond Front was purchased from The Billiard Factory. I am a complete newbie and could use a little info. They both look all original to my newbie eye, but would appreciate any of y'alls opinions. Do any of the parts look to be reproductions or non-original? Also, is there a way to tell what year they were manufactured in? The Blue Bell machine is stamped with a serial number if that helps with authenticity or year.

Additionally, we unfortunately don't have the room for them and are considering selling them to help cover part of her outstanding financial debt. They both seem to be working fine and pay out. However, I know they're not in excellent condition as the outside could use some restoration and the inside some cleaning. In their current condition, what range of value should we expect for each of them? Also, what would each of the stands be worth?

Thank you all for any help,
Danny

HI

The stands around $300 each the 25 cent slot $900 and the 5 cent around 800 dollars. Shipping is a problem for slots. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply, Rich. When you have time, I'd love to hear what year you think these are from. Also, are you able to tell from the pics if they are all original? Just mainly curious for my own knowledge.

HI

Need the serial #s from the slots. They are in the bottom center of the wood at the back door. May also be on a paper tag on the handle side inside the machine.

Here's what we found on the inside of the Blue Bell on the handle side ...

And this number is the only one we could locate on the Diamond. It's on the wooden base ...

Let me know if there's anything else needed.

HI

The Diamond front has to be a 6 digit # but the machine was probably a 1941
The blue bell is from 1948

They are original.

Thanks for the info and help, Rich.

Does anyone else have anything additional that they'd like to add?
