Daval Reel 21 reel springs

Postby rtmccurdy » Sun May 07, 2017 1:16 pm

Hi. Does anyone have a set of five reel springs (as pictured) for a Daval Reel 21? They are light/delicate and I can't locate anything in my slot spring stash that is remotely similar. If you have a set PM with price plus 1st class shipping! Thanks! Robert

Robert:
No one has ever made the spring sets for these Daval machines in the past. I have had to make
them up myself, when needed. They are supposed to be double springs, with a rivet in the center,
so that they have slack in them, otherwise the reels will not operate properly. It appears that the
springs on the #2 reel in your photo is what I am talking about. Use that as your sample, and you
should have no problems.

Robert:
Here is a photo of what I was describing to you. Many times, reel #1 does not have the
two-piece spring, but has very slight tension only. The others have the rivets, as shown.

Thanks for the info and photo. The springs are the originals so I wonder if this configuration was as intended. The reels spin a tad better after loosing the pump screw.

Thanks, fits right in the middle of a bunch of other "Reel 21" models.
