Post any questions around revamped machines here.

unusual method of indexing reel 1 on a Watling Rol a top

These pics were taken of my "Baker Revamp" RAT.
I wondered if anyone had seen this method of remotely indexing reel 1 via this odd looking index arm and star wheel.
Reels 2 & 3 are indexed in the normal Watling manner via the reel disks.
Would this have been done as part of the "Baker revamp", if so , Why??
I bought this in the recent Goldfarb auction as I like consoles and unusual re vamps so it ticked both boxes.

Great looking machine.
From the front castings and color scheme, I'd say it is a Buckley revamp rather than Baker.
Of course, that doesn't mean it didn't pass thru Baker hands at some point.

I have a 5 cent RAT/Buckley revamp countertop bell;
it does not have the 1st reel arm that yours does.
Of course, that does not mean Buckley did not do that mod to some of their revamps.
My Buckley serial number is 5000xx.

Hi Clubconsoles
Sure , this is a Buckley revamp !
The Serial Number 70936 is a Watling S/N . Year 1936 (An early model , just after the ToR ! )
The serial number 500628 is from Buckley .
The Console is not made by Watling .
About the first reel arm , it s from Watling !! Very common on first model !Two different version of this .You have the first version, the second is very hard to find .
That was an option from Watling .That was the only way for change the odd on the rol ,Y ou just need to add a "bug" on the star wheel.
Here his some photos .
Stephane
PS : I love your Rol atop Buckley ! Very nice console !!

Here are pics of the two labels, inside another 5c RAT w/Buckley revamp.
Same model as the one above. Note the difference in the 'Reel Combination' letters.

gsx11r:
Being as your Buckley revamp serial is only 3 numbers before the Console above, it would be interesting
to know what your Watling serial label reads. Just curious to see if they were done around the same time
frame. To me, this would also indicate that the console cabinet was built much later. Possibly in the last
few years, by Greg B.,the 'slotwoodbutcher' of eBay. I would imagine if he was contacted, he will have
records of when, and whom he built it for. If you like, I can contact him for you, to see if he knows.
