Spelling Bee Award card; Ginger cash door

Postby nvmos2 » Sat Jul 14, 2012 2:14 pm

I need an award/instruction card for the Groetchen Dixie Spelling Bee, as seen on page 157 of Bueschel's yellow book, Guide to TSs and Counter Games.
If someone could email me a close-up photo of the card, I can made a suitable replacement.
I also need a back door for this machine; the metal type, same as on the Royal Flush and Dixie Doninoes (I think some earlier versions of this cabinet had wood doors).

I also need a cash door for the bottom of a Ginger without the wood base; the ROUND style (not the square door that goes on bottom of wood base models).

If anyone can help with these items, it would be appreciated.

Hi Jim,
I might be able to help with two of the items that you are in need of, the back door for the Spelling Bee and the award card.
I need to know, what the maximum overall width is on the back door. I have found that not all of this type of machine are the same. There have been slight variations on ones that I have. I really haven't been able to find an original award card for this machine. Bill Whelan didn't have one, and the picture in the book, isn't much help. I improvised, and I think it is a suitable replacement.
Check the pictures for these items.
Regards,
Jerry

Hi Jerry;

Looks like you've made a very nice replacement card for this machine.
The door also looks like a nice complete reproduction; seems like a lot of the replacement doors don't have the plunger or gum hole/flap.
I can use both if the door fits;
My machine takes a door that is 10 inches high plus 1/4 inch lip that goes into groove in base;
and 12 3/16 inches wide.
The groove in the top for the lock cam is 6/8 to 7/8 inch from the door.

My zip code is 23321.

Thanks,
Jim
