Has anyone tried to swap out a Mills mechanism from a 1/2 top (Busting Cherry, 3/5) to a High top, 3/5 payout.
When I tried the Bursting Cherry mechanism would seat into the High Top base plate but when I tried to cycle the mechanism the handle got hung up and wouldn't come down.
When I put the two mechanisms on a table, side by each (French Canadian Hockey talk) I found the HT mechanism sat up higher by about 1/8 inch.
Is this normal?
Or do the cabinet/case base plates have a deeper channel in them?
It would be alot of work to switch out the oak case base plates and find out it doesn't work
Maybe some has tried this already?
Thanks for your help
John
