Antique Coin-Op on public display

Postby Dave » Sun Nov 27, 2005 8:25 pm

I just got back from Thanksgiving vacation. Part of the vacation was to meet my in-laws in Deadwood SD. One of the reasons we met was for them to deliver a couple of machines I purchased up in the Dakotas last summer. I did not have a way to get them back to Denver so they were stored at my wife's realtives house for several months. Here is a photo of them :D

Anyway, one of the coin-op magazines (now defunct) used to have an interesting section which mentioned movies were antique coin-ops could be seen.

I thought it might be interesting to mention places where antique coin-ops are on public display.

In Deadwood SD, Mustang Sally's has several machines on display. If you know of other places that have machines on display feel free to reply to this post. If you have photos then email them to me and I will put them up.

Here are some photos from Mustang Sally's.

Dave:
I spent a few days in Baton Rouge last year and saw about a dozen machines on public display at the convention center.
They are located on a sky bridge that connects the convention center and one of the riverboat casinos. All are displayed behind glass, I now wish I would have taken pictures. If memory serves me correctly, most were the most common mills machines from the thirties and fourties, but fun to look at none the less.

Riverside Casino, Laughlin, Nevada

The riverside Casino in Laughlin has a small slot machine shop with older machines that are also for sale.

In an outer building across from the valet parking area there is a small glass-walled building that has some antique cars. About 2 years ago, they also had an excellent collection of slots and trade stimulators in this same building. They may still be there, but I haven't checked the last few times I've been there. That was the best collection I've ever seen (personally) as far as age, condition, and quantity of machines.
