Morphy Auction

Postby Frank » Sat Oct 01, 2016 11:19 am

In the upcoming October Morphy auction there is an item Lot 527 which looks like a side vender, marked MLB 3556, yet is auctioned as a "matchstick dispenser". What is it really?

Frank:
Lot No. 527 is a side vender for a Mills Slot Machine. This style should only be found on the 1c "Roman Head".
It is a very scarce vender, that vends single sticks of gum. Not rolls of mints, like most.

Is anyone here going to the January Auction?
i wondered if there is any kind of social thing going on in Vegas with slot collectors on the night before?
Or are we all a secretive bunch and don't do that kind of thing??

I will be there.

I will probably arrive a couple of days early to check the stuff out in person.

If anyone wants to get together for lunch / dinner please reply via this thread.

I just previewed some of the catalog online and saw their estimates. I know on the rare stuff they can be way off but on the "common" stuff ,how close are they? For instance I see a Caille superior vendor and their estimate seems way low among a lot of other machines I thought were low. Granted Im not seasoned like a lot on here but they just seem low. Opinions?

I spent a lot of time there Friday looking over all the machines. There is a lot of over restored machines and repop castings on some. Be careful what you bid on without looking it over.
