There was an 1898 Paupa and Hochriem Full Deck slot machine on Pawn Stars on June 26th. It's a counter-top slot with a single reel, and it's a nickel machine that takes up to 5 bets. Mike Andrews of Las Vegas Antique Slot Machines came to examine and value the slot. The pawn guy bought it for $6200.

Starting about 17 minutes in, there are 7 minutes on this fascinating slot machine. The show is on the History Channel, and the episode is called "Get in the Ring." If you want to see it, set your your DVR to record Pawn Stars reruns.

There is a picture of one of these slots here: http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detai ... me_id=2496

I saw this episode last week, and about fell over. You usually don't see machines of this caliber showing up at the Pawn Shop.
I was a bit surprised at what they payed, as it did work, but did need case work, etc. Although, the "Full Deck" is a very scarce machine, of which very few are known.
A P&H that is even Rarer, (yes, there's that word again), is the "Alphonso", with only 3 or 4 known. I restored one for the late Stan Harris, many years ago, and am not
sure where that one resides at this time. I noticed when Mike Andrews came in the Pawn Shop to check the machine out, he did mention the maker and year, but never
said the name of the machine, unless my hearing disconnected at that moment. I also remember an episode, a few months ago, that a fellow brought in a 1893 Wm. Pope
"Automatic Dice" machine, that he had purchased in a VCA auction in May 2012, of which it was one of the machines from the Mel Getlan collection. It sold for $3,500 plus
the juice, and he ended up selling it for about half of that. I think he said that he needed the money for some extensive dental work, or the like. There have been some
other Trade Stimulators found on American Pickers from time to time, but nothing really exciting. They purchased a Stevens "Magic Beer Barrel" for about $200 one time,
and there was a Caille style "Winner Dice" on the same bench, that they passed on. I think the guy said he had $500 in it, but they didn't even negotiate.

This is slightly off topic, but, as many of the collectors in our hobby are involved in the movie industry, this will be of interest to them.
