ANOTHER SHEFFLER CONVERSION ON EBAY

Postby Midcoast Vintage » Wed May 14, 2014 5:59 pm

Here is another SHEFFLER machine just listed.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-1929-Mills ... 2c83088b67
Shaky description by owner who obviously knows little to nothing about slots.
YES, it has sheffler strips.
But... that appears to be about it.
Seller states:
" it has the ornamental spacer between handle and wall"...
He is referring to the handle hub, which is not peculiar to sheffler.
Common during this era on mills machines are 2 different style hubs... the one shown here, which is for the handle with a shorter shank going through the hub to the handle starting lever, and, the typical / usual style hub that takes the standard length shank.
I don't feel the seller is trying to purposely mislead. i think he was trying to write a description that "sounded" professional / knowledgable... unfortunately... it did not happen.
The shipping price of $250. is also ridiculous.
BELOW IS COPIED DIRECT FROM HIS DIESCRIPTION AS OF 7:56 PM , MAY 24th.
Item Description:
1929 Mills Novelty Jackpot Bell (Poinsettia) antique slot machine with the Sheffler Bros conversion. This machine was manufactured in 1929 by the Mills Novelty Company (Chicago, IL), and then purchased by the Sheffler Brothers, Inc (Los Angeles, CA) for custom conversion of machine parts. Custom conversions include: Slot reel strip with Sheffler Bro, Inc logo and ornamental metal disc spacer between Pull-arm and machine wall, making this particular Jackpot Bell slot machine with Sheffler conversions very unique and rare.

The slot machine comes with all original working parts (Pull-mechanism, rear metal wall, original wooden base and side walls, cash box and slot-reel mechanism). The machine’s pay-out mechanism works correctly, and the Pull-arm mechanism runs smoothly. Both walls display the Mills Novelty Company decal, and the original maintenance instructions decal located on the inside of the back wall. This owner has NOT physically altered the machine’s exterior patina. The purchase includes 'The Complete Service Manual for Mills Slots from 1906-1969' and an appraisal letter from April 17th, 2014 by a Coin Operated Collectors Association (C. O. C. A.) member.
