Care to offer an opinion on these Ebay items?

Postby WikiSlots » Tue Sep 23, 2014 8:19 am

Hello, I'm looking/considering one or more of the following Ebay items. Any opinions ... run for your life, grab it before its gone, fake/real, etc.? If any of these listings are from members, please use PM instead (no public bashing). As a newbie, I don't want to start any wars. [-X

I am still on the road traveling so I didn't look at all the listings.

Here are my comments on the War Eagle. Looks like a legitimate machine. Shipping of $495 is ridiculous.$175 should be the max. Seller goes on and on about all this was owned by the mob. These stories are common. Adds no value to the machine unless you had a picture of Capone in front of the machine.

I personally think the price is too high given that the machine needs cleaning, award card, etc. However, use the price guide to make your own decision. The seller is trying to get dealer prices but not offering any dealer services (e.g., cleaning the machine, getting an award card, etc.). The main picture shows the escalator is all jammed up.

Speaking of shipping, do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, ever have a machine shipped via UPS. There is like a 99.9999% chance the machine will be damaged. OK, maybe not that high but a LOT of machines have been destroyed by UPS. I have had good experience with FedEx ground.

Also, insist on the machine being double boxed. One of these days I am going to post an article on hot to properly pack a machine for shipment. It isn't that hard or that expensive to do.

i just looked at the mills FOK and was thinking it's a decent machine to restore, but don't like the "no keys" thingy....and the buffalo nickels in there too is a very common trick to make you start thinking maybe there's more nickels in there than the machine is worth....it happens often where people buy a machine with a bunch of silver or buffalos and they end up selling the coins for more than they paid for the machine....but it aint gonna happen to YOU!LOL....at least that's the way MY luck runs. also it's kind of a red flag when the seller only has a 2 feedback, both from SELLERS, not buyers....i haven't bought a thing on ebay in years, but that used to be a biggie. to much non-information to me to like it, but if it was here in TOWN, i would be dashing over to grab it. but ANYBODY knows more than i do about slots, so take that with a grain of salt you'll need a wheelbarrow to take it home in.

Wikislots:

You are getting the slot machine referrals from the online price guide right?

Some good machines have come up in the last month. Some very good machines can be found from private parties who don't want to deal with ebay.

Here are just a few

Hey Dave, yes, I am getting the referrals. I also looked up the machines for sale on this forum as suggested by radiorich123. In hindsight, that seems so obvious now. Ebay seems more and more like a shot in the dark.

I've reached out to a few folks and have my eye on some others on this site. I'm really glad to be part of this site and look forward to building my collection.
