Hey Freddy the greatest thing about this forum is that we can all express and discuss various topics......I look forward to what you have to say. I agree that ebay is a big pain. I will not sell on it anymore and am very careful buying on it. Some people seem to forget that part of this forum is to discuss and talk and bitch about things that affects us and our hobby. We all have a right to talk on this forum. So don't withdraw your knowledge or opinions I look forward to hearing everything from everyone. By the way I started researching the Johnson act and the way it reads some lady buying a wheel of fortune to hang on her wall could get in trouble. You really have to know each individuals states laws to be legal. The problem with the American politicos are that they have knee jerk reactions to problems and think that what kind of good press they can get not what is good for the people they represent. But anyway keep writing!!!

I agree with the Gambling man. EBAY is Ebay.... they are not the police, the law, or are they
responsble for what is put up for sale. They are a store, with venders of every size, who
are in busibess to make a dollar . The Vegas butcher laughs at you--the auction houses you think are
great are l imperfect. We should be realistic and understand, the Auction House is only resposnsble
for the wording they produce to describe an item. Past that you are on your own. If you are soo
concerned go to the viewing, review what you are interested in, contacrt the auction house discuss the item
and decide for your self.
Regarding EBay,, make enough complaints, take them to court, and in a heart beat. (like firearms)
they will cease carrying coin-op. That would hurt the hobby, more then the liars and cheats do.

Lets stop bitching, and try to get this hobby, back to were it was. Lets try to develop collectors,
and raise the interest levels in all things coin-op, not just slots.. There are many collectors of
trade stimulators, and vending, in our memborship---peerhaps some interesting discusion of uniqque
coin op, could expand their interest, and put people on a new, and more diversified coin-op track.

If you don't use Ebay, why are you complaining about it ? Sounds like you are the idiot. I have been collecting, repairing, restoring, buying and selling mechanical slot machines from the early 1900's to the 1950's, for over 35 years, so I am not a novice when it comes to the old slot machines. My Ebay feedback testifies to my honesty and the quality of my machines. I don't do casino machines or reproductions. I don't care how long you have been in the coin machine business, I [we] in the U.S. don't need you quoting to us about the Johnson Act. Like Billyzap says our state laws are all different, I live in Minnesota and our state laws allow ownership of slot machines of any age. I stand by my first post. Tell us some more about how long you have been in the coin machine business and all the people you know I can hardly wait.

Sir,
Don't hold your breath, you will have a long wait. just for your information, I have lived in the United States for more than 25 years, and have probably paid more taxes to the U.S government over those years than you have in your entire life.

I hope the other intelligent member enjoy listening to your knowledge.

Enjoy your Forum.

I felt drawn to comment on this one. I Like Ebay !!! I have been on ebay for 17 years. Is it perfect...No. However, what is perfect. Ebay is a site, a Forum, just like this is a Forum. It allows people to connect that would NEVER connect. Over the years I have met more people from ebay (100's), than from any other source. A lot of these people have become my friends. I first met Freddy from ebay. I met Nigel from the UK many years ago because of ebay.

Over the years I have bought some Great items on ebay. Items and Sellers that I would never have found any other way. Almost anything you are looking for eventually shows up on ebay. Including hard to find parts, or amazing photographs of machines on loction. I bought a Photo years ago of 4 Polk Bandits on location in the Las Vegas Club. Two of the Polks in the Photo were in my collection. That was Awesome for me to find that.

Now, after all those years of buying, I have been selling a lot of my collection. I am a Collector, NOT a dealer. My collection has overtaken me and I'm trying to bring it under control. There are not a lot of places to sell off well over 100 Slot Machines.

I listed a Mint Token Bell on this Forum for $1,800. It was up for 6 months and I never even got a comment. Not even a "Nice Machine". Last Novenber I listed the same machine on ebay for $2,395 and it sold within 1 day. The buyer has since bought 4 more machines from me. I would Never have found this guy without ebay. Last year I sold 4 Jennings machines to a buyer in the Netherlands. Again, he found me on ebay and we did all the deals privately. How would I ever connect with that person? I have sold more than 40 machines in the past 1.5 years all because people saw me on ebay.

In most cases you can list for free or 30 cents. You only pay if your item sells. I also collect Casino Chips. One year ago I listed a $2,800 chip on ebay. A person contacted me and we made a private deal. He went on to buy $50,000 worth of my chips. I'm just saying ebay has done far more Good than Bad.

I know there are Repo Slots on ebay. The same as there are fake Rolex Watches, Art Work, Hand Bags, Coins, Car Parts, DVD's, Cd's etc... Every part of life has bad people that do bad things. However, there are FAR more good people than bad ones.

There is a lot talk about the Johnson Act and ebay. The Johnson act has nothing to do with ebay. When the Johnson Act was written, it was designed for the Government to Control Gambling and protect us from oursleves. Does anyone remeber a little law called prohibition? Prior to the Act there were Slot Machines in almost all States. This stupid law (Johnson Act) put a lot of Great Companies out of Business (Walting, Mills, Pace, Jennings, etc). Now all these years later more Slot Machines are being manufactured and sold, than at any time in history. Nice job Big Bro Gov...

There will always be Fake machines. There will always be machines that have been altered. Maybe some people like an altered machine. Not everyone is a collector. Look at the Harley Davidson Hi Tops. Biker's love those machines, and that's OK.

Don't get me wrong. I am a Hardcore Purist. Nobody has ever bought a machine from me and complained about it's Authenticity. I like everything to be completely righteous. But not everyone is like me.

I used to collect vintage Corvettes. Everytime I saw a 1960's Resto Mod I would Cringe. But people like those things. It's not a bad thing for people to have different taste.

I like ebay. If some of you don't like it, just stay away from it. Please don't go after ebay because a few people sell a Repo. Also keep in mind, most of the Repo Slots that show up on ebay are from people who either bought them years ago or inherited them and truely don't know they are Repo's. These people are not out to "Screw Somebody". With that said, yes there are some sellers that contiually list fake machines. But out of the whole ebay community, what are we talking about, maybe .0000001%. In the end ebay will just Pull all Slots and then we ALL Miss Out !!!

This is a Great Forum. Let's all try to keep it that way. Nobody likes all the Negative.

I Like Ebay !!!

I don't see what the deal with the reproductions are. I have a Golden Nugget and it's smooth playing and pays out perfectly. The inside is all mills ..I figure the chance of finding an original was/is slim to none. So I bought this one knowing what it really is. I even informed the guy I bought it from as to what it was. Also for what its worth, I really don't like the Golden Falls or black cherry looks at all. When it leaves I will tell the buyer the facts as I know them. Just my two cents worth.. PJ

Flebay is like a Columbia slot machine; it’s either the greatest thing since sliced bread or it’s pure junk. However, there is undoubtedly a silent majority who sees pros and cons with pretty much everything. I use flebay; I’ve had about 1000 transactions; by far, they have gone smoothly; I’ve had a couple of bad transactions and only one gone really bad (which was flebay’s technical fault) and had to spend hours on the phone to resolve. I often think flebay is more trouble than it’s worth (I sell mostly low value items), but continue to use it (it does have pros and cons).

For those on the con side (midcoast et al);
you provide valuable info; flebay is loaded with traps for the unwary and they often change the rules. I need all the help I can get and do not mind sorting through posts that I personally feel I already know or don’t need in order to get a good tip on something. Too much information is much better than not enough.

For those on the pro side (swami et al);
You keep the Forum balanced and in proper perspective. Swami’s post is an excellent example of good, well thought out constructive counter point. Less helpful is a “I’m tired of all the whining and complaining; if you don’t like eBay, stay off the site” approach. (Does anybody else see the irony? If you don’t like all the complaining about flebay with nothing constructive to add, stay off the Forum.)

For all;
Personal attacks don’t help at all; I know it’s tempting and I do it myself since it helps me feel better (for a short time; until I realize it just reflects poorly on me).
Now then; “Can’t we all just get along?”
