Dave asked if I remembered the size difference between the "real" castings and the reproductions. I can't say for surebecause it's been quite awhile since I last did it, but I think they were in the 1/8 inch to 3/16 inch range. Back when it happened, another collector said that it depended on whether the person doing the recasting tried to build up the dimensions of the original casting that they were using as a pattern, so that after the recasting cooled and shrunk, it would be closer to the correct size ( the build up would be done by adding something like "bondo" to the edges ).
I do know that the guys who recast back doors for trade stimulators do something similar with adding to the edges to end up with a piece that would be more correct in size.
