Bidders list

Postby tmhatting » Mon Jan 15, 2007 1:05 pm

Ebay has changed the way it shows the bidders list. In order to eliminate some sort of chicanery, they've made it so you cannot view the IDs of bidders (only the seller can). Personally, I found it very informative to look at who was bidding, what their feedback was, what other types of items they had bid on, etc.

I agree with you.

This new policy will make it much easier for people to use shills to try and jack up the price on stuff they are selling.

Of course, eBay does not have a problem with the use of shills because the use of them jacks up the price and generates more revenue for eBay.

I found a couple of links regarding the bidders list. Time for the shills to rack up the dough for their buddies. Rob from eBay is a genious for creating the bidders list. He got a pay raise, eBay's stock goes up and the bidders get screwed.

There are several discussions going on about this in the eBay "Trust & Safety" forum.

So far, everyone thinks it is a really bad idea and shilling will increase.

Postby rogers1313 » Mon Jan 15, 2007 5:41 pm

There is an amazing amount of information about the bidder when you go to the bidders list and click on view.
One statistic that I like is: "Bid activity (%) with this seller: 12%"

Below is a cut and paste from on bidders details:

Bidder Information

Bidder 8
Feedback: 100 to 499 • 100% Positive
Registered on eBay: More than 5 years
Bids on this item: 1

30-Day Summary

Total bids: 8
Items bid on: 6
Bid activity (%) with this seller: 12%
Bids to unique sellers: 5
Bids in unique categories: 5
Bid retractions: 0
