Mills War Eagle Paint

Postby edinmch » Tue Aug 28, 2012 2:45 pm

I found a 5 Cent War Eagle with what looks like original paint. However the yellow and red are reversed from the normal paint scheme. The black is the same. Did the factory ever produce War Eagles painted this way?

I've never seen that paint scheme you have on your War Eagle. I just sold one 2 weeks ago, an early version with no denomination button up top and the early escalator variation of 1931. Original paint and all. Post a picture of yours, I'd like to see it! Chances are that War Eagle was repainted many years ago. I've owned and operated a Vending company for years and it's not uncommon to get a machine in from the route to clean it up or repaint them to go to another location. That's called "rotating equipment". Yes, it may be a 60 yr. old paint job, but one a vendor has done.---just my 2 cents.
