B.A.Withey King Six Jr.

Postby altort » Mon May 06, 2013 9:24 pm

Pretty sad machine, cabinet needs extensive work, wrong handle looks home made, Bill Whelan has the award card but will need the frame and will also need the manufacturers tag for the front of the machine. Are these parts reproduced or any one have them for sale? Any one have this machine that can give me any input on what else is missing. I can get this machine pretty cheap but if I cant get the parts to restore it it's not worth buying.
Any and all input appreciated.

Al:
If this machine is as cheap as you say, Grab It. If you are handy with wood repair, it will be an easy-fix. Dispite the warpage & veneer pealing, it doesn't appear
to have been in a flood zone, otherwise the felt would be history, and the center casting would not have as much original paint. Hopefully the mechanism is all
there, and working. The handle shaft, and bushing are original. The hardest part, is finding an original handle, as they are larger than normal, and not used on
any other machines, besides all of the Withey variations. I do not know anyone that has recast these handles. Hopefully someone else does. Both coin doors are
intact, which are often missing. This model did not have a frame for the award card. It had a wedge-shaped wood piece, that stood up at the rear, with a card
on both sides. The two screws seen in that position, is where it mounted, only the wood screws came up from the inside, into the bottom of the wood wedge. I
can send you pix & measurements of what it looks like. And, yes I have the award cards for it. As for the small mfrs. plate that goes on the front, not all of the
machines had them. In fact, I have seen the greater number without. If there was one on this machine, you will see two small tack holes at center-front. The
dice have been replaced at some time, as they are too small, with incorrect pips. Thanks for the great pix, as I was able to enlarge and make out the serial 4310.
Good luck, if you pick it up. But if the $50 price tag is out of your league, I will take it. But the owner will have to pay shipping.

The Withey trade stimulators are really well made and nice machines. Here is the rarer roulette version but same body as King Six. Note no front plate as has been stated previously. And that handle will be difficult to find or repro. Good luck!

These are good looking machines restored, the cabinet may be a lot of work restore but as Bill mentioned both doors are there as are the numbers on the back, card available through Bill, the only thing that concerns me is coming up with the correct handle, if I cant get one than it might not be worth buying even if the price is right.
There is one coming up at the VCA auction lot #2153, up to $275.00 already, it will be interesting to see how much it takes in and who buys it, if any one from this forum ends up with it if they would be willing to have the handle copied, or at least some detailed pictures and measurements to have one made.

3D printing,,,, surely?
Scan the part, email to 3D printer and Hey Presto - before your very own eyes - At Home - the part materializes.
This could be the future for assisting with slot machine parts but what could it mean for,,,medicine, architecture,,,,copying casino chips,,, err that wasn't me,,,Serious Technolgy.
