Mills cash box

Postby kentdun » Tue Feb 11, 2014 3:26 pm

I found this cashbox in a War Eagle. I haven't seen one before that didn't have a hinged cover. The cover lifts off. The spring loaded hatch is missing. I assume this is a Mills box, but maybe an early one?
Thanks

The cashbox found in your War Eagle, is a multi-use box, made to fit in both directions, as indicated by the
indentation for the pull-ring on the long side. To my knowledge, these boxes didn't have a hinged top, as a
top with a dump-hole in a different location could be easily placed. They were even finding ways to cut a
multitude of costs back then. Pretty slick. =D>
