Shooting Gallery - Politically Incorrect

Postby gamblingman » Thu Jun 26, 2014 6:43 pm

Below are some pics of the small Target/skill shooting gallery I picked up with the Digger I recently purchased. It is one of the typical games you see with the Tratsch/ABT gun. You get 10 shots for a penny. The decal says Lincoln Scale Company, Onamia Minnesota, and the inside is stamped Lincoln Scale Company as well. The politically incorrect part is that it was originally titled "Shoot the Japs". Obviously produced around WWII era. It looks like someone re-themed it in the cold war era to "shoot the reds".....lol The "Japs" score reel is still in place, and all seems to work, although it can use a good cleaning. Anyone have any info on this particular company or theme, please let me know. I'm not a collector of these things, but the price was right, so I picked it up. If I decide to keep it, I may undertake a minor restoration....if the decals are available, I would appreciate any info along those lines, as well as value, etc.

Thanks

If you are not keeping it, I would be interested.

Being a WWII collector, I would be interested in it also.

Talked with Roger over at Crow River, and he tells me there were a couple of themes like this that floated around at the start of the war....although he has never seen one with this exact theme. If anyone knows what the original graphics and wording were on the glass decal, I would love the information. At this point, I am going to leave the decal as it sits....there is nothing reproduced that I can find, and I will do more harm than good messing with it.
