Jennings Century "In-between Models"?

Postby thepennyarcade » Fri Feb 05, 2016 9:05 am

Hi Forum
I recently came across this Jennings Century.
It looks like a Gooseneck mechanism in an Escalator Cabinet.
It doesn't look like the castings have been cut or built up.
What do you guys, is the factory using up gooseneck mechanisms?
Thanks
John

Very interesting;
what's serial number?
Any stickers inside?

Renders the escalator window pointless; very strange.

This appears to be some kind of an operator revamp, that someone has plugged the original coin entry position
above the sunburst, and relocated a standard gooseneck mechanism, by putting a new hole on the right side,
which makes the escalator feature useless. Makes one wonder what is going through some peoples heads! But
realize, this was most likely done many years ago, when people used whatever was available, to put a machine
back on location. I can't tell what denomination the coin entry is, in the pix, although the inside sticker says 5c.

Below is a pix of what a "Century Vender" gooseneck model, with witness window, is supposed to look like.
Also notice that the coin entry is located much higher.

Hi Forum
I finally got another picture of the top casting.
The top casting has a plate covering the actual coin entry location.
The asking price is very high, so I think I will pass on this revamped machine.

John:
I think you made a good choice, to pass on it.
I wouldn't even classify it as a revamp. It's more like a 'wet dream'!
Did you put a coin in, and does it function?
