rocgod:
You want this guy to really 'scare the crap out of you, when you come home', put a good quality
cowboy hat on him. That flat head just doesn't cut it. Besides, who wants to see the ends of the
timbers. Come to think of it, where did the original hat go? Do you have it?
Regardless of who may have made this figure, by all means, do not attempt to do any repainting
to it. Just do some light cleaning, and see about getting the mechanism to work properly. If your
Wife's grandparents got this directly from Del Webb, it has to be the original paint colors, from
when it was first created, and it appears to have been well cared for.
As to who may have done yours, keep hanging in there. We should come up with an answer soon.
I have a call or two, to do as well.

About 8 months ago, I was involved in the discussion about one armed bandits, and
sent in photos of my "rare" two armed bandit. Iam enclosing photos to add to
what may, or may not be a revolving discussion. I would like to bring out one thing
that seemed of little interest on my cowboy, and that was the fine carving of
the Head, face and features, TRULY A MAN OF THE WEST. We should evaluate a piece
SUCH AS THIS on the quality of presentaton,
not only who made it.
I have sent phOtos and hope they get published again.

There we go with that word "RARE" again!
The only thing Rare about carved character figures, are the Original Frank Polk examples, PERIOD!
No Reproductions, Copies, Close facsimiles, in wood, fiberglass, or petrified cow dung.

THIS IS DIRECTED TO MY FRIEND BILL--- tHE QUOTATION MARKS AROUND THE WORD
RARE, WAS INTENDED AS SARCASM--- THE ARROGANT SHOUT OUT " ANYTHING ELSE
IS DUNG" IS AN INSULT TO ALL THOSE WHO COLLECT, AND LOVE WHAT THEY COLLECT.
EXAMINE SOMETHING WITH A CLEAR Artistic eye, for what it is. THE ONLY PERSON
A COLLECTOR HAS TO PLEASE IS HIMSELF. I HOPE MY PICTURES GET PRINTED AGAIN.

Thanks for posting the pictures for us to see,I love these machines and hope to eventually get more, I don't care who made them or when I enjoys all of them. I also still need to get a hat and a back door for mine but that will be soon I hope.

I might have some issues ,like you, walking in late at night.... "who's that in my house !?! that damn slot machine".
find a real hat please... a used Stetson would be nice. Mrslot1 for the back door.
Wait a minute, how do you figure out a hat size on a wooden head ????
I agree with you , makes no real difference who made it but, that information would be nice.

Guys, Love any information on Character slots I can get my hands on and hope to someday own an original Polk cowboy. I've collected some great slots over the past few years however, my treasured cowboy eludes me.
Would be interested in any info/pontifications you would have on this newly posted wooden Character slot on Ebay.
Thanks,
Mark
