Mills Black Cherry Slot Machine

Postby Dsmith » Mon Feb 20, 2017 8:12 am

I picked this Mills Slot up recently and would like to know if it is the original paint. I also am wondering if it is missing some of the black cherry emblems on the front. I have not seen one with just two.

I want to restore it back to original condition.

Thanks,
David

Not a Mills; it's a Buckley, probably one of their revamps.

It has a Mills Serial Number as well as the Mills inspection check list inside the cabinet.
Mills Serial number is also stamped on the right top side of the cabinet (Same Number both places)
So I'm guessing Buckley revamped it.

Correct a Buckley revamp, which I believe they sold under the same name , "black cherry". there was an original Buckley crate for one recently up for sale on e-bay. should be additional holes now ,for the trim around the coin window.... might screw up the plans to "restore it". award card & the stickered glass is also a Buckley item.
does it still have it's J.p. ?

Sorry to be ignorant, but what is the J.P?

Is the Jack Pot a separate part of the mechanism?

Again, sorry for my ignorance. This is my first mechanical slot that I'm restoring.

David:
The Jackpot is a separate mechanism, and will be attached to the inside back of the lower front casting.
Judging from the paper behind your jackpot window glass, you probably don't have one. The picture here,
is of a jackpot assembly in an earlier Mills machine, but you can get the idea of what we are conveying.

if your machine is missing this ,it will cost you roughly $125.00 for one !! Reproductions cost around $90.00.
photo of the front edge of the coin slides will help determine if it has the bar ... for a jack pot. not sure if Buckley machines were offered as a token vendor on jack pot pay outs (?).
Anyhow , you might have more of a project than you originally thought.
