Well I'll be . . .

Postby edgeCity » Fri Mar 17, 2017 5:04 am

. . . stumbled across this on Craigslist:

https://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/clt/6044100856.html

Looking at the reels and the award card, I figured this HAD to be
some kind of oddball revamp:

But then I found this old ad reprinted in Bueschel's Lemons, Cherries and Bell-Fruit-Gum (p. 205).
Turns out, it's an original!

A little Scarce, but not Rare! Buckley produced a good supply of them, but I don't think in very large numbers,
as I have only seen a few of them in different colors. They don't show up very often, even in the live auctions.
The price on this one seems very reasonable, and could be 'talked-down', if it's been listed a long time. It looks
to be all there, except for back door, and the back bonnet is not shown either. Don't know what the seller means
by "appears to have a piece missing above the payout cup". Looks fine to me. If you are within driving distance,
'jump on it', as it is an oddball.

Here is a pix of another color variation.

. . . by "appears to have a piece missing above the payout cup", I'm guessing they're referring to the jackpot glass.

It's about a six hour drive for me. But it's within a half an hour of the April show at St. Charles! Seems there's quite a
few listings popping up in that area of late!

Is that your Bonanza? Nice bronze finish.

No, not my "Bonanza". Just a pix from my vast files.
Ha, yea! Wasn't even paying attention to the jackpot glass being gone.
The big concern is the missing bonnet. More so than the door.
Who knows, maybe it will still be there, on your way to St. Charles.
Either that, or you will see it in someones booth. :lol:

The Buckley Bonanza may not be rare;
but the Mills Bonanza certainly is; only one known to exist.

Fantasy machine on Fleabay

This fantasy machine was on Fleabay some time ago as being from the Bonanza casino (it isn't);
It is covered in another thread on this forum.
