Mills 4 bells saved from the Dump

Postby clubconsoles » Tue Apr 25, 2017 1:45 pm

I just bought this Mills Console and had it shipped to Europe as it came up in an estate sale and no buyers came forward so it was headed to the dump.
It had sat in the elderly couples house for forty years.
OK not a prime collectable, for sure, but worth saving in my opinion, anyhow
I was told it was used in a back room of a pub in Michigan. Apparently it was illegal gambling at that time. The pub was shut down. The 4 bells was sold to a patron who used at home for entertainment.
They told me the name of the bar it was a little remote location but I can't remember the name of it. If I hadn't made an offer it was going to the dump the next day.

Hi Jeff
It does now after a good clean and a few solenoids rewiring.
I will paste a link to a youtube video over the next few days if anyone wants to see it in action?
I find it Curious that Mills along with the other big 3 were doing their utmost to engineer noise out of their bell mechanisms throughout the 30s and then come along with this beast in 1940 that is as noisy as a freight train!
Thanks for your interest
