Mills Payout Problem

Postby rjpohl » Thu Feb 22, 2018 12:42 pm

Does not pay out when there is a single cherry on reel 1. It should pay out 2.

All other payout combinations work (payout correct).

I've degreased and cleaned the payout slides as best I could w/o disassembling.

Any suggestions???

Check or change the spring on the first vertical payout finger.

I had a feeling it was the spring and I have ordered 5 pcs. I also tried to shorten the spring a little but really all I think I did was weaken it. If I unhook the spring from the rear can I slide the payout slide out the front without taking all the other spring and slides out? I've never worked on one of these and looking for best way to replace spring.
thanks for your help

That is the wrong spring. It is the one up on the top.

I misunderstood your first post and adjusted spring on bottom payout slide.
After reading your next post I swapped springs on the first two vertical pay fingers (picture attached). this didn't help, still no payout for the single cherry on reel 1.

Does the bottom payout slide move back on a single cherry. Could be that the payout slide is not being released.

Its also possible for the bottom part of the arm that releases lock lever that releases the slide has gotten bent back just enough so it doesn't move the lock lever and release the bottom slide.
With all the time and many slots I have worked on them, this was the case only one time. All I did was to bend it carefully, and that fixed it.
Please excuse my personal terms for some parts .... they work for me.

The bottom horizontal finger appears to move enough to allow slide to move. When I set it up to pay (cherry on reel 1) the bottom slide does not move until I just touch it with the end of a screw driver. As soon as I touch it the slide jumps back and the 2 coins are paid out. I'm thinking there is something worn or nicked on the slides. I'm just a little afraid to unhook all the springs and pull slides out the front. Can this be done that way?

here's a picture of the bottom that shows the slide moved to where you can see part of the coins, I can just touch the slide and it will jump to the right and the coins will drop.

I'm attaching a picture of the tension springs that are on the payout slides. This is how the machine was when I received it. Like this all payouts are correct except for single cherry on first reel. I have tightened tension up on the top spring and it then paid on for the single cherry but all other payouts where over paid.
