Mills repair manuals?

Postby 1949 » Thu Apr 19, 2018 6:52 pm

Before I start working on the two machines I bought (Old mills W/skill stops & Mills Extraordinary) I`m hoping someone can help. I need to buy a manual or two to help me take apart what I need to clean, lube and put back together again. I think I`m going to start on the Extraordinary first since the skill stop is working OK right now. I`ll also work on the cases and wood when I have them apart. Pictures of both machines are on the post "Old Mills w/ skill stops" in the slots section. Any help would be much appreciated, Thank you!

The Mills book you are looking for is Owners Pictorial Guide for the Care and Understanding of the Mills Bell Slot Machine by Mead and Geddes. https://www.amazon.com/Owners-Pictorial-Guide-Understanding-Machine/dp/093442201X/ref=dp_ob_title_bk Copies show up on eBay frequently.

In the photo below are the Mills manuals for Silents of the 1930s, that were available in reprint when I bought my first Extraordinary back in the late 1970s. I see a couple of other versions of Mills repro manuals around these days - is there anything that actually includes more or better information?

As far as I'm aware, there are no original manuals available for the QT Silent.

There seem to be two or three different versions of Vest Pocket manual reprints, with different additional information.
