WARNING!!!! Beware of ****** from El Paso TX!

Postby mrslot1 » Mon Oct 01, 2018 5:43 pm

WARNING!!!!
Beware of ******, from El Paso Texas, He claimed to be a COCA member!
I did some major repair and restoration work for him almost a year ago. It was mid December, when we finished it, The work was on an early reproduction Hi top mech, Jackpot and Escalator!
10 months later now, he decides to file a claim with Paypal, who went through his Credit card co. and now I'm out Money, time, labor, and shipping.
He lied to Paypal stating that everything I did for him was not as described! What sucks too is Paypal's dispute is that It's so vague that my response about what I did do, didn't even help with the decision! Crazy!
So Bottom line, Cash is King, or get a M/O or Check and hold for at least 2 weeks! Because with Paypal, they just took the funds right out of my account! I didn't even get to dispute my end of this!

Sorry to hear about that Dave.

I deal with a variety of antiques, collectibles, and specialty items on eBay, and have been hearing from sellers for a while that eBay and PayPal are making ridiculously one-sided decisions in favor of buyers. I'm guessing that they've decided as a corporate strategy to try to keep their individual customers happy at all costs, and leave sellers absorbing some unnecessary losses as a cost of doing business.

In addition to using other means of payment for large transactions, I know sellers who photograph outgoing shipments so that they can document what was shipped and in what condition, in case of a dispute. In other high-end restoration work I'm involved in, it's typical for both customers and vendors to take "before" photographs, and for the vendors to then take photographs after work is complete, in order to document what was done.

Good Idea!!!! Thanks for the advice. it looks like a hard learning experience here!
And yes, lately eBay and Paypal have been making that one sided decision.

Posting this person’s information on the open internet/forum is completely inappropriate. Dave, I sympathize with you but there are always two sides to every story.

I didn't post his phone number! Yes I know about 2 sides to every story! However, Im out over $500.00 now what?
It's theft of services!
It took him 10 months!!! I offer Guarantee my work for Life, I always have, he never responded to any of my emails!
I even posted this to Paypal and said for him to send me back the mech! It was a Repro mech to start with, One of Tom Krahls fantastic pieces of work!

Thanks cpdretired for removing this person's information from the forum.

Dave - from what you've posted it appears totally unreasonable. I can only recommend calling PayPal and providing copies of emails and as much detail related to services as possible.

You can summons the small claims court with a right of claim and get this douchebag into court. If he doesn't show it's a win. But yes there's that problem of collecting, but the bottom line you make his life a little uncomfortable and his name is on a small claims against him. PS it doesn't cost much for the summons just a thought, and we wonder why some small margin of people just suck...!
