Mills high top

Postby vndgguy » Mon Sep 15, 2014 12:21 pm

Hello All
I have a question about a Mills Deuces Wild high top i recently purchased. Everything seems to work fine except I get some "extra payouts". I get 18 coins for deuce - bell - plum, and 14 coins for a deuce - plum - bell combinations. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help.

I had a similar problem-- but with a Pace machine-- a few years ago. It turned out there were two things wrong: 1) some extra payouts were occurring because there was a little bit of a loose "wobble" on the innermost payout wheel, which would get pushed back by the payout finger far enough to allow a payout; 2) the vertical finger probe to the plum payouts was bent sideways so much that it actually penetrated the adjacent bell holes on that innermost payout wheel! (Or it was the orange finger probing the plums, don't remember exactly.) These two problems exacerbated each other unpredictably; i.e. the loose "wobble" coincided with the bent finger in some stop positions but not others.

Not saying this is definitely your problem too, but you might observe what's going on between your vertical fingers and payout wheels on those errant payouts. You might discover a similar situation.

It's possible that you may have the wrong reel strip on the third reel. Do you know if the reel strip are original or have they been replaced. I do own three deuces wild machines and i know that there were some variations in the reel strips on some machines.

I would have thought so, too, except what he's describing (and what I experienced with that $#%& Pace machine) are "extra" payouts on weird symbol combinations, while everything else works "fine," that is, no missing payouts where the symbol order is correct. I think there would be missing payouts in any situation where you have an incorrect reel strip.

Thanks for the info
I didn't see how the problem could be the reel strips and be correct on all payouts yet give extra payouts, so I went in expecting to find bent or out of place parts. actually the problem is the reel strips. Someone had glued lemons on top of 2 different bells on the third strip. So I guess the reel is indexed incorrectly. Otherwise it should have payed out on bells with those lemons showing? I'll just have to get new strips and install them & see where I end up. Again - Thanks for the help.
