Daval Penny Pack

Postby Jamar Tatum » Thu Jun 05, 2025 4:35 pm

Any help identifying this as real restored or a fake would be greatly appreciated
Said the reels and front signage were redone but unsure about the rest
I’ve looked around online and can’t find 1 just like it so I’m a little concerned
I appreciate the help, new to the trade sims. Thanks

It is a nicely restored original machine.
The swivel base is NOT "particularly rare" as the seller states; it is a nice feature not found on most examples, but far from "rare."

Daval produced a lot of minor variations in the Penny Pack case design; that is why you' may not have not seen one exactly like this one.

Thank you for the info, I do appreciate the help.
Would you say it’s price of $620 is fair for it’s condition?

I neither follow prices nor give an opinion; like noses, everyone has an opinion. This machine is still active on Flebay with 25 watchers and it's been listed for some time, so none of them seem to think it's worth the BIN price of $620.

The Penny Pack was manufactured by Daval in great numbers and several variations, the one that you are looking at is a bit more desirable due to the extended base with profit sharing but by all means not rare as the seller claims, Daval put the swivel bases on many different models, from what I can see the back door lock and front profit sharing door locks look to be original, no mention if there is a key for the front lock, the profit sharing coin separation looks to be complete will need to operate to see if it deposits the correct amount of coins between the front and rear compartments, the pump looks intact but most likely the leather will need to be serviced or replaced, very common in those old pumps, the springs for the reels are the correct springs and look to be in good shape and the gum ball dispenser looks to be all there as well, the seller mentions that the reel strips and award card have been replaced no mention of the repaint, the cabinet was never taken apart for the repaint lots of dirt on the inside, if the castings were not prepped properly the paint may start to peel and it is sloppy in several areas, as far as the price that is your call, the profit sharing feature does not come up for sale as often as the standard models do and if this is the one you want make the seller an offer, the worst that an happen he will counter offer you.
