Help Identifying and Repairing an Old Slot Machine

In your video I am unable to hear the "5th. click". Might be gummed up payout slides or 5th click lever.

Play the machine and pay attention to the following:

Pull the handle when reels are kicked (kicking noise) = 1st. click.
1st. reel stops (sound) = 2nd. click.
2nd. reel stops (sound) = 3rd. click.
3rd. reel stop (sound) = 4th. click.
Payout slides reset (sound) = 5th. click.

You can search this site for "5th. click" and you will find some posts to resolve that issue. Also, when doing any service on the machine Do Not Use WD-40.

The pay tube is full. It appears there may be an issue with the pay slides. I’m not sure what their correct position should be before activation, but when the unit is activated, a couple of the slides extend and don’t retract. I’m also unsure if that behavior is normal.

Is this preventing or pertaining to the 5th click?

Was the machine laid down when transported? If so, some of the coins in the payout tube could have turned sideways and are causing a blockage. You may need to remove the payout tube and check the slides.

No, machine was transported upright. Coins in tube seem to be upright.

I always thought it went like this:

Click #1: First reel stop
Click #2: Second reel stop
Click #3: Third reel stop
Click #4: Release of vertical payout fingers
Click #5: Release of coin slides

Don't the coin (payout) slides reset as you pull the handle--?

I don't know....it's all new to me but I kind of understand the terminology. Something is not right with that last click and the slides from what I can tell. The mechanics is facinating, I just need to learn what is happening accurately to try and troubleshoot and fix. I apprecialt all the feedback so far. Please keep commenting.

marsonion correctly describes the Mills "5 clicks."

Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit. I guess I really FUBAR'd that one. Now, I know. Anyway, I still believe that there is No 5th. click and the OP needs to find out why the slides are sticking the way they are.

I have had this problem before and based on that video you have a coin blocking the return of the one of coin slides

1. remove all the coins from the slide so you can look down from the top of tube and confirm its empty.
2. gently pull the each slide out with the springs attached to check for blockage and smooth operation OR remove and clean each one but mark the stacking order for re-assembly (check for nicks or damage to slides)
3. look at the back and sides around the slide assembly to see if a coin is jammed in that area.
